Description

Pelican Oil 4 Oz

Pelican knife and tool oil is a semi-hardening oil.

Which means, you get the protection of a wax while benefiting from the penetration, shine, and ease of use an oil has to offer.

With Pelican Paste’s proprietary blend of all natural oils, you can be confident that your knife or tool will be protected from the elements.

Pelican oil is also 100% food-safe, allowing you to apply it to anything including your prized kitchen utensils.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

As a part of the formulation, there are a couple drying oils in the mix. What that means is, there is a chance of spontaneous combustion, if not disposed of your rags properly. Do not scrunch it up and throw it in the trash can.

Option 1: After oiling your product, lay your rag flat for a day or so to allow it to dry. After the rag is completely dry, you can dispose of it normally.

Option 2: Throw your oil rags into a dedicated metal bin that has a lid. This bin should be outside of your shop and home. It is still advised to lay the rag flat and not scrunch it up before throwing it in there.

Option 3: Do what I do and burn your rags. I have a metal bin outside that I place my rags in after use. Using a torch, go ahead and light your rags on fire under supervision.

Your safety is our #1 priority. This is how you should handle ALL your oil rags in the shop, not just Pelican Oil. If you are not only using Pelican Paste, please research your specific oil for more details on how to dispose of it.

How to use Pelican Oil

A lot of people prefer to use oil over wax. There is a number of reasons, but the two main reasons I found are because it is easy to use and has an unbeatable shine. If looking for deep wood penetration or even high carbon steel protection, Pelican Oil does it all. Pelican Oil is a hardening oil that gives the protection of wax and the penetration and shine of oil.

I recommend having the following available:

  • Pelican Oil (of course)
  • (optional) Lint free rag or paper towels. I personally love these blue shop towels

To apply Pelican Oil, do the following:

A little goes a long way.

  1. Just apply a little oil to the surface of your knife, wood, or tool with your fingers or a lint free rag.
  2. Spread until you see an even finish that suits your needs.
  3. You can use the knife or tool immediately, but for a dry finish, allow it to sit for 12-24 hours.
